AvCo is defining our mobility future

As the nation’s first highly automated, connected, electric and shared public transit service, AvCo’s impact is immediate and longterm as we write a new chapter in America’s transportation history book.

1) Safety
The year 2020 saw 42,000 lives perish on U.S roads due to crashes, a 10% increase over the year before. Automated vehicles can help save lives by removing human error that contributes to 94% of all crashes. The EZ10 autonomous shuttles in AvCo demonstrate how the technology can safely interact with traffic, pedestrians, and other road users at low-speeds, which paves the way for a safer transportation future for all.

2) Mobility Access
AvCo is about more than research - it’s about solving real people’s problems. The shuttles provide meaningful transit service to people who need it, connecting people to their jobs, homes, school, or entertainment with a free, ADA-accessible service. AvCo proves that autonomous vehicles can make mobility more convenient, affordable, and accessible.

3) Climate and Air Quality
Transportation is the nation’s #1 source of greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution. AvCo is using 100% electric shuttles with zero tailpipe emissions, which will produce significant savings compared to a traditional gasoline or diesel transit service and support Governor Polis’ goals to reduce transportation’s environmental impact.

4) Economic
AvCo has direct and indirect economic benefits for Colorado. By improving mobility between key destinations like employers, schools, and entertainment, the new transit services make it easier for people to prosper and invest in their communities. By involving local technology companies and showcasing Colorado’s innovation ecosystem, AvCo hires local talent, attracts new and growing technology companies to Colorado, and funnels outside investment into the state from grants, conferences, and tourism.

5) Education and Research
AvCo is a platform for learning, and we want to share what we learn with the world so we can all progress together. By sharing data, lessons learned, and best practices with key stakeholders, we hope to accelerate the benefits and mitigate the risks of autonomous vehicles so we can all realize their potential sooner than later.
